Achievement Tests
 

 

ACCESS for ELLs (English Language Learners)

 This test will be given to PreK, K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 students with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). The test will be administered between December 3, 2012-January 29, 2013.

 

ACT + Writing

This is a curriculum based assessment measuring skills in English, math, reading, science and writing. It will be administered to all high school juniors (grade 11) on April 23, 2013

 

Cognitive Abilities Test (Cog-AT)

All grade 2 students will be screened using the CogAT between October-November, 2012.  This allows all students an equal opportunity to be referred for Gifted Education.  Results of the CogAT are not only used for the identification of gifted students but also as an additional data source that aids in instruction for all.  

 

Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT)

This statewide, criterion-referenced assessment will be administered March 4-26, 2013 to all Montana public school students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 It is aligned with the Montana State content standards and  measures students’ proficiency in reading, math and science (the science test is given at grades 4, 8, and 10 only).  Scores from this test are available in a "report card" format on the State of Montana Office of Public Instruction website at www.opi.state.mt.us/ReportCard/.

 

Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)

Students in grades Kindergarten, 1, 2, and 3 will take this assessment three times during the school year between September 10-October 15, 2012; January 7-25, 2013; and May 1-17, 2013.  This is assessment tool is designed to help educators evaluate student's early literacy skills.

    

FitnessGram

This test is given twice a year to students in grades 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 as part of the District's Health Enhancement Curriculum.  It will be given to students between August 30-October 19, 2012, and April 8-May 24, 2013.

  

Math Placement Tests

 Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will take the Math Placement Tests during the week of April 29-May 3, 2013. This assessment tool is designed by District educators to evaluate student math skills for placement in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade math courses the following year.

 

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)

This test is given three times a year in reading, language, and math to students in grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 . The assessment monitors progress and measures growth for each student. It will be administered between September 18 - October 5, 2012;  January 7-25, 2013; and April 30- May 17, 2013.

 

Montana University System Writing Assessment (MUSWA)  

This test is given to high school juniors (grade 11) as a requirement for entrance into the Montana University System.  The assessment will be administered between January 30-February 22, 2013.

 

National Assesesment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is given to students in grades 4 and 8 in the spring of odd years only.  The testing window is January 28-February 28, 2013.  Visit the NAEP website at http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard for additional information.
