Superintendent's Biography
Superintendent Alex P. Apostle has been the Superintendent of Missoula County Public Schools since July 1, 2008.
Apostle served as Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in the Tacoma Public Schools from 1992 to 2001. In this position, he was responsible for six high schools and 10 middle schools. He also directed career technical education, enrollment services, alternative education, athletics and activities, and the education program for Remann Hall, the largest juvenile detention center in Pierce County.
Apostle also served as Principal of Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma from 1991-1992. From 1980-1982, Apostle served as principal of Riverview High School in the Finley Public Schools near Kennewick, Washington. He also served as principal of Sedro-Woolley High School in Sedro-Woolley, Wash., from 1982 to 1986. He was a high school Principal at Liberty High School from 1986-1991 in the Issaquah Public Schools in Washington state.
Apostle holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and science from the University of Puget Sound. He also earned a master's in secondary education and Ed.S. and Ph.D. degrees in educational administration from the University of Idaho.
