District's Five Main Goals 2009-2012

In August 2008, MCPS Superintendent Alex P. Apostle and the District's Board of Trustees affirmed the following five measureable goals:

  • Achievement and graduation for all students, regardless of their circumstances and abilities.
  • Refine and implement a quality supervision and evaluation program for all staff.
  • Define and implement a quality professional development program that encompasses best practices and supports the needs of all staff.
  • Restructure the organization to become more efficient, effective and accountable to support the goals of the District.
  • Cultivate and enhance staff, student, parent, business and community involvement.

In support of these five main goals, each school and department in the District has crafted individualized goals and an action plan to achieve the five main goals. Each year, the action plan may be modified, but the five main goals will remain the same. For more information about these goals and plans, please call 728-2400, ext. 1024.
