About Us

Mount Jumbo Elementary School opened its doors in January of 1979 as a K-8 school in East Missoula for students who had attended the Central School, now the home of the Missoula Children's Theater. A few years later, middle schools were implemented and the 7th and 8th graders were moved to Rattlesnake School. After looking at program delivery and student needs, the decision to reorganize the attendance area was made. Mount Jumbo is now a K-3 school with students attending Prescott School for grades 4 and 5, and Rattlesnake middle School for Grades 6,7, and 8. As members of the Missoula County Public School System, our students attend Hellgate High School.

The school is named for the mountain that separates this community from the Missoula urban area. This coming year, the enrollment will be approximately 250 students with 27 full and part time staff. Our students are drawn from the East Missoula community, the river area of East Broadway and the Rattlesnake Valley.

The Mount Jumbo Team is dedicated to providing a safe and challenging learning environment for every child. Students are provided with a variety of services to meet their individual needs.
